Following an easing of lockdown restrictions in July, the UK leisure industry has been experiencing a resurgence in the last few weeks, with ‘staycations’ becoming all the rage. As people look forward to taking a well-earned break while staying within the UK, holiday parks and campsites are experiencing a frenzy of bookings.

Although there is a huge choice of staycation accommodation available, from country cottages, mobile homes and lodges, through to glamping pods and cabins, a reliable supply of hot water remains essential to an enjoyable holiday experience.

To ensure leisure accommodation remains safe, the British Holiday and Home Parks Association (BHHPA) has a number of regulations for ‘preparing and operating park infrastructure’ – which has been updated to include the necessary health and safety requirements in light of COVID-19. These regulations include regular inspection and testing of all electrical equipment, as well as reviewing a venue’s Legionella Risk Assessment (LRA) in accordance with advice from the HSE. Additional handwashing facilities also need to be available, such as at the entrances to buildings, office spaces and any areas frequented by visitors.

When looking for a reliable source of hot water to supply leisure applications, Ariston’s range of electric water heaters is perfect for keeping holiday guests comfortable and clean, while adhering to all the necessary rules and regulations.

For example, our Velis Evo electric water heater’s slim, twin-tank design saves space and energy, with its low 1.5kW power supply making it ideal for leisure and off-site applications. It also benefits from fast reheat times, so holidaymakers won’t have to wait long for their shower to be ready! These factors, alongside a best in-class ErP rating and state-of-the-art design, make the unit the perfect modern alternative to hot water cylinders.

Should park home owners want to strengthen their capacity to ward off legionella, there are also electric water heaters available with built-in software for just this purpose. In addition to the Velis Evo, models in our Andris Lux Eco and Pro1 Eco ranges have a function that automatically increases the water temperature up to 65°C for sixty minutes once a month – eliminating legionella bacteria inside the tank to ensure healthier water.

The owners and managers of leisure facilities, particularly in the holiday accommodation sector, rely upon hot water to keep their customers comfortable and happy. Fitting the latest, high quality electric water heaters will ensure holidaymakers remain satisfied for the duration of their stay, for many seasons to come.
