PROJECT REQUIREMENTS
This huge commercial project includes 5 different building types, each of them with different requirements:
• Main building: 272 rooms with a daily hot water demand of 35.000 lt/day at 65°C
• 1 VIP chalet: 8 rooms, with a requirement of 800 lt/day at 65°C
• 10 chalet: 15 rooms each, 1.500 lt/day at 65°C for a total of 15.000 lt/day
• Main restaurant: 2.000 lt/day @65°C
• Staff accommodation: 6.000 lt/day @65°C
 
The complex requires daily a total of 58.000 lt/day.

SOLAR SYSTEM DESIGN

Main building:
• 150 high-efficiency solar collectors models KAIROS XP 2.5-1
• 12 solar storages, MAXIS CD1 model, 2.500 lt volume
• 12 electric elements 7,5 kW installed in each MAXIS CD1 storage
• 11 NUOS EVO heat pump water heaters 250 lt
• 12 solar pumps 25-120 for solar systems operation
• 12 ELIOS 25 control boards
• 12 expansion vessels 80 lt

Staff accommodation building:
• 30 solar collectors models KAIROS CF 2.0
• 3 solar storages, MAXIS CD1 model, 2.000 lt volume
• 3 electric elements 7,5 kW installed in each MAXIS CD1 storage
• 2 solar pumps 25-120 for solar systems operation
• 1 ELIOS 25 control boards
• 2 expansion vessels 80 lt

Main restaurant:
• 6 KAIROS THERMO HF system, 300 lt storage, 2 collectors
• 6 electric elements 1,5 kW each
• 1 NUOS EVO heat pump water heater 300 lt
• Total volume of solar storage 1.800 lt
• Total volume of heat pumps storage: 300 lt
• Total surface of solar collectors: 26m2

VIP chalet:
• 2 KAIROS THERMO HF system, 300 lt storage, 2 collectors
• 2 electric elements 1,5 kW each
• 1 NUOS EVO heat pump water heater with electric back-up
• Total volume of solar storage 600 lt
• Total volume of heat pumps storage: 300 lt
• Total surface of solar collectors: 8m2

Standard chalet:
• 40 KAIROS THERMO HF system, 300 lt storage, 2 collectors
• 40 electric elements 1,5 kW each
• 10 NUOS EVO heat pump water heater with electric back-up
• Total volume of solar storage 12.000 lt
• Total volume of heat pumps storage: 3.000 lt
• Total surface of solar collectors: 176m2
 
ADVANTAGES OF THE SOLAR SOLUTION
This project represents an avant-garde installation in the UAE. The system represent a perfect integration of different renewable solutions: sun and air. Both the natural and forced circulation systems are integrated with a split air-to-water heat pump water heater. 
The entire system has been designed by Ariston system design manager taking into consideration the specific withdrawal estimated profile for each building of the complex. 
The renewable water heating system of each building is independent from the others, to enhance reliability and easiness of maintenance.

The solar fraction (indicator of performance) is variable from system to system, but always above 80% to ensure maximum comfort and energy saving. In detail:
• Main building: 85%
• Staff accomodation: 69%
• Restaurant: 81%
• VIP chalet: 80,7%
• Standard Chalet: 80%

Respectively the energy provided by the sun to each building is equivalent to:
• Main building: 422.000 kWh
• Staff accomodation: 60.500 kWh
• Restaurant: 25.000 kWh
• VIP chalet: 10.500 kWh
• Standard Chalet: 25.000 kWh

Additional saving is provided by the heat pumps, that thanks to the high COP (Coefficient of Performance) is capable of saving up to 75% when compared to a traditional electric water heater.
Considering both the solar and the air source, the saving is over 550.000 kWh. This is the amount of electricity that the end users will not have to pay as the equivalent amount of energy are provided for free.
This is equivalent to a reduction of 330.000 kg of CO2 emissions.
